Maggi worked for a small IT company providing financial information, gathered from futures and options exchanges worldwide, to traders and private investors over satellite or internet links. The size of the company and the location of key clients and suppliers meant she was on call 24/7, 365 days a year. This went on for over 17 years, but eventually the company folded and made all the company redundant in June 2006.
She sold up everything in the UK, banked the redundancy money, and did a Yachtmaster course in UK and Australia. Having got her Cruising Instructor qualification in June 2007 she started work as a freelance instructor in the Solent and then Lanzarote. Joining Club Sail in December 2007 she soon added her Shorebased Theory Instructors qualification so that she can teach in the classroom as well as on the water. |
