Andy has been sailing since he was 8 years old. He did his Competent Crew course when he was 11 - and famously when asked if he could make tea said yes. The Instructor told him to make it in the sink, and the crew were very impressed. He then asked them if they wanted more - and it was found out that the tea was "in the sink!".
He spent his teenage years racing in the Solent: competing in the Fastnet race 3 times, and delivering boats between Club Sail’s base in the Solent and Tenerife.
After sailing some 40,000 miles he took his Yachtmaster exam a few days after his 18th birthday. Shortly afterwards he became a Yachtmaster Instructor (Sail).
After taking a few years out to become a master boat builder he returned to the company business.
Since then Andy has become a Yachtmaster Instructor (Motor) and Advanced Powerboat Instructor.
About five years ago he became an Examiner for the RYA and MCA in Sailing, Motor Cruising and Powerboating.
